Virtual Reality and the Modern World

The New trend in technology is AR and VR.  Most people already know these technologies. They think they do and I used to think that too. The reality is nobody knows these technologies even after seeing them on YouTube or Social Media. 

The fact is you have to experience these technologies in real life and not remotely.

AR means Augmented Reality and the reader might yeah I know that. That does not mean you know it.

Morton Heelig creates the Sensorama, the first VR machine.

More precisely in 1965, Ivan Sutherland presents the idea of “Ultimate Display”

Who is Ivan Sutherland?

Ivan Sutherland is an American who did his under graduation at Caltech or California Institute of Technology.

He proposed that in summary, a display connected to a computer can interact with virtual reality which is indistinguishable from reality. Well, that's why Meta Verse is here. You are an avatar in a different world where it can be differentiated from the real world. That was in the 1960s.  Ivan was known as the founder of computer graphics.

There are a lot of things going on in the history OF VR.

What is VR?

VR simply is when you wear VR glasses you enter a different world and it is not just seeing but also feeling.  Say you are in America and you see a VR movie of going on a camel in the deserts of Saudi Arabia. It is not only seeing the sands but also somewhat feeling of going on a bumpy, smooth road.

It is like a laptop, you have to reboot and be greeted with a welcome message once the user is wearing the headset.

Say a person is dreaming and he feels going into another world. When he wakes up still feels slight discomfort.  A dream is closest to VR if a person has not experienced it, except a person can decide to disconnect from it.

Virtual Reality is the full form of VR. A reality you can see and feel but is not real. In Virtual Reality for example you are sitting in the comfort of your house in Los Angeles. Then you want to travel to the Desert or Rubail Al Khali of the Middle East. Otherwise known as the Empty Quarter.

You sit on your sofa wearing VR glasses and you watch a movie but same time feeling you are there with the discomfort of the heat. This will show up once you start watching the VR movie.

This VR headset was developed by Samsung and Oculus. Samsung Gear VR is one the best headsets in the market. This is the cheapest way to experience VR. If you have not physically experienced you won’t understand much.

Experience it. Actually, you go to another virtual world. That is why Facebook is now the metaverse.   We were told what was coming in the movie. It is like this if you have not experienced VR still now, in a few years it is going to be like a caveman coming out to the 20^th century world!
